Cake Toppers

Here's a fun no-sew idea for all you crafters. I particularly like this project because the kiddos can do their thing with the play-dough while you craft up some of these cuties, guaranteed to make any cake or cupcake cheery and party ready. My sister and I made ours out of the Sculpey clay, then varnished them after they had baked and cooled. Anything is possible, from penguins to polka dots.

Jennie-
These are fab! You told me about them, but they are way cuter than I even expected! I can't wait to rustle up a batch for birthday cupcakes, thanks for sharing them.
p.s. everybody, this is Jennie Owen!

These are so cute! Did you make them with colored Sculpey or paint plain Sculpey?
I wonder if it would work to make Mr. Potato Head type faces with googly eyes, mustaches, etc.

We used the colored Sculpey. I think its easier and quicker than painting.

Now I am really inspired...these have got to be the cutest things ever!!! I am thinking that my oldest grand-daughter would love making these with me.
A question, is there a post on each figure or do they just sit on the icing?

We just set them on top of the icing. They are pretty light weight and the icing kept them from tipping. I suggest experimenting with a candle in them before they bake. We had to tweak a few to make them tip-proof.
